Five months have passed, there have been many confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Roatan, it was difficult to avoid contagion and spread on the island. The Bay Islands were one of the last two districts in Honduras to confirm cases of the deadly disease.

While instructions have been given for the gradual reopening of the economy at the national level, with all biosecurity measures in place. The maritime transport company Galaxy Wave, which covers the Roatan-La Ceiba route, it has not received authorization to restart their operations.

Galaxy Wave, which has shown itself to be a responsible company, have presented to the National Risk System (SINAGER), their biosafety protocols that they will implement once they are authorized to reopen operations.
To assure the safety of their customers and company personnel, Galaxy Wave has provided important training on biosecurity measures, to prevent the contagion and spread of COVID-19. This training was conducted by representatives of the Bay Islands Health Region.

Jesus Reyes, Marketing Manager for Galaxy Wave, said that, as always, our company seeks to comply with all the requirements to guarantee everyone's safety, this is no exception. They want their employees to have the appropriate knowledge to demonstrate the confidence and security that they are following with the established biosafety protocols laid out by SINAGER.
According Jesus Reyes, there are many people who are waiting for the resumption of Galaxy Wave ferry to customary operations. In general people wish to cross from Roatan to the city of La Ceiba, but there are also a large number of people wanting to return to the island of Roatan. It is important that the general population take into account that there will be requirements that everyone must meet when traveling to any part of the country.
